Mary Kuhlman Bares Her Soul About the Making of Her First Album"During the past couple of years I have been blessed in a very special way. Through prayer, I received a gift: the gift of song that began on Dec. 17, 2001. "One morning while praying quietly before the school day began, I asked to be able to write Gospel music. That afternoon I received the first melody during my prep time. The songs continued to come and I continued to write, always surprised and delighted by each one.
"As these songs came to me, I had no idea what this all meant. But Bill Cuson, a friend at church who is very musically gifted, became my mentor and suggested making a CD. Working around our own full time jobs, we created the CD entitled MY SOUL TO BARE that I would like to share with you. We had the musical contributions of six teenagers, including my daughter, Allison, who sings a verse in I COME TO YOU. My husband Paul was one of the adult collaborators playing acoustic guitar and singing on a couple of songs. Most of the other background voices came from our church choir. "The title MY SOUL TO BARE really reflects what I am doing as I share it with you. My hope and prayer is you find God’s love and hope in these songs. Every step taken to create this CD has received a unique blessing that in itself has been great to witness. May God abundantly bless you and sustain you in your endeavors." "Paul and I spent ten years in Argentina as missionaries in two distinct parishes. One was in rural Misiones in the town of Oberá and the second later was in a large suburb of Buenos Aires. Our family grew there to include Angela and David. Upon returning from the mission field, Allison joined us and I stayed at home with our children for many years. Later I began my teaching career as a bilingual instructor, and I became a middle school and elementary Spanish teacher. Currently I teach high school Spanish in Kalkaska, Michigan."
